Some say that the concept of "copyright" needs to be completely abolished in this modern digital age. Some want to strengthen what "copyright" means. Some are somewhere in the middle of these two extremes. WHERE ARE YOU?

Two sharply contrasting views dominate the debate over copyright policy. On the one hand—the left one, we might say—copyrights represent mere policy tools, no better in principle than any other legal mechanism and, indeed, more modern, rationally planned, and democratically chosen that anything the common law can offer. On the other hand—the right hand, we might say—copyrights represent property rights no less than real estate or moveable goods do. On that view, copyrights deserve strict enforcement and our solemn respect.

The RIAA, the RIAA Lawyers, grand mothers, little girls, college students, the disabled, artists, fans and absolutely everyone -- regardless of which side of the issue you're on, all have one very important thing in common... We all use electricity. Now, as you read this and think to yourself "well duh" about my pointing out the sky blue obvious, there are some not so obvious points to be made. Boycott RIAA has embraced a variety of slightly off topic articles over the years -- whether it's been about computers in general, Non-Music Software and Hardware and a variety of other things -- I think it's time for a "Green" topic to join in their ranks.

In what has to be the lamest copyright-related takedown in the history of YouTube, someone or something has removed those excellent parody videos that paired video footage of famous guitarists "shredding" with expertly-done amateurish guitar buffoonery.
