Can't get ANY connections anymore - moving to Kazaa. It's a great concept (peer-to-peer).
I used to get lots of hits with the Gnutella network,
but lately I'm getting zilch! Have the lawyers shut down all the host-cache sites? I've downloaded
the latest version and latest host-cache files, but I rarely get even ONE single host - even if
I wait for an hour or more - NO connections. I'm moving over to Kazaa or another P2P until
Gnutella improves. 12/8/01

I commend those who actually have followed instructions and downloaded a gnutella client. There is probably not much you can do if the client doesn't automatically find a host at startup unless you know of a specific one you have found somewhere else online. Many of the gnutella nets are down now. For those who think this is a place like audiogalaxy or mp3.com, your in for a little culture shock. This is NOT a place to post or request downloads. This is NOT a download site. All this is (the way I understand it) is a place for people to go who support the gnutella technology. Gnutella is peer to peer, which means you connect directly to another person. No one can just "turn on" the downloads here, because there is no central server with the files on it. If you are having problems connecting to a computer, then more than likely all the other gnutella users are having the same problems and can't help you. I am sure that all of this is posted somewhere on this site, but since it seems to be normal for users here to sign up, log in, and start cussing in forums because there aren't any downloads on the front page; I decided to put it here for those to read. Don't get mad because no one will share files with you here. They can't. Go download a client and try your luck like the rest of us. |

Don't download LimeWire 2.2, it locks up (freezes) my Mac G3 with OS 9.1, have had to do one restart after another. I have liked using LimeWire, answered the first prompt to download 2.2 for auto requeing. Now I can't get the old version back, so I guess I need to find new client software. |

BTW I use this Swapper and find it pretty good. It seems to be the best of all the clients I have tried so far...

All of these are a joke when it comes to downloads but, I like the Swapper one the best. At least I can get Mp3's. Though I have not been able to down load the one thing I got this thing to find and that is the movie "A.I. Artificial Intelligence" |

I found the song I wanted through Gnutella in less than 30 seconds.

Port 6346 (GNUTELLA typical port) is being bloked by many institutions in their firewalls, so I suggest everybody to change their port to any other nuber and then you will be able to access all the servents behind these firewalls. Then you will be able to connect to a lot more peers. |
